Geosure operates a SANAS accredited geotechnical testing laboratory in Durban, South Africa and is capable of carrying out a wide range of specialist geotechnical tests on soil and rock. 

When working with challenging ground conditions, advanced geotechnical tests help provide the valuable information you need to model a cost-effective solution.

Our laboratory services a variety of industries, consultants and government departments whilst using the latest available test methods and equipment.

Our experienced team will be able to advise you on the appropriate tests for your requirements.

Test standards on offer in our laboratory are:

  • British Standards
  • ISRM

Tests within our capabilities include:

  • Triaxial strength tests on soil CU, UU, CD
  • One dimensional consolidation and Double oedometer
  • Collapse potential
  • Swelling potential and pressure
  • Direct Shear test
  • Dispersion tests (Pinhole, crumb, double hydrometer)
  • Constant and falling head permeability
  • Flexible wall permeability
  • Point load test on rock (Franklin Test)
  • Rock joint shear strength
  • UCS and UCM (with strain measurement and poisson’s ratio) on soil and Rock.
